The city's annual Mental Health Awareness Walk, the Wild Rose Carnival, and more is taking place in St. Albert this weekend.

     1. Mental Health Awareness Walk

It's Mental Health Awareness Week in St. Albert, and the city is hosting its annual Mental Health Awareness Walk tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Walkers are asked to meet at Lions Park ahead of time, and the walk is expected to go until 8:00 p.m.

“Step out for mental health awareness: walk, chat, and connect,” the city's website says.

The walk is free and registration isn't required.

     2. Neutral Ground event at the Family Resource Centre

St. Albert non-profit NeutralGround is back with a free hobby and activity session from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Family Resource Centre.

“NeutralGround has been set up to help combat social isolation and foster community through shared hobbies and activities,” the event's website explains. “We are creating a safe, inclusive, indoor location for like-minded people to enjoy their hobbies, individually or as a group.”

Event attendees can knit and crochet; play multi-player video games; play boardgames; take part in some roleplay fun; help complete a team jigsaw puzzle; and more. Snacks are also provided and registration is not required.

The Family Resource Centre is located in Campbell Business Park at 215 Carnegie Drive, Suite 10A.

     3. Hike or Bike For Hospice

To mark the end of National Hospice Palliative Care Week, the St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association (SASHA) is hosting a free community event in Kingswood Park on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

National Hospice Palliative Care Week is an annual fundraiser for organizations like SASHA to raise money for programming. SASHA is hoping to raise $20,000 in this year's fundraiser to help pay for two Centrella Smart Beds for Foyer Lacombe, a 10-bed hospice facility in St. Albert.

As of May 10 just over $18,000 has been raised.

On Saturday residents are asked to head down to Kingswood Park for a walk, crafts, and to hear from guest speaker Mayor Cathy Heron. The event's website says there will be door prizes at the park, and donations can be made online.

     4. Wild Rose Carnival at St. Albert Centre

The annual carnival that takes place in the parking lot of St. Albert Centre is happening this weekend.

The carnival is open from noon to 11:00 p.m. on Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be a dozen or so rides to go on, as well as bumper cars, and a bunch of classic carnival games.

Mini-donuts, elephant ears, cotton candy, candy apples and more will also be for sale.

All-day wrist bands are $40, although individual ride tickets will also be for sale.
